7.Dez.2024 – This year, we as the federal association invited all doctoral student representatives who are members of our association to our annual general meeting in Göttingen on November 30th. This hybrid meeting got off to a very constructive start, albeit with a few connection problems in the beginning.
Many working groups and the Executive Council had already met the day before to discuss future strategies and our vision for the federal association. This first day was characterized by lively group work and ended after a tour of the Göttingen Christmas market in a quaint pub in the city center.
After a warm welcome from Timo and Benita, our two chairpersons, the doctoral representations who had joined in recent months were confirmed as members at the Annual General Meeting. This means that Münster, Frankfurt, Oldenburg, Weimar, Hanover, Leipzig, Lübeck, Weingarten, Koblenz, Ludwigsburg, Dortmund and Freiberg are now all members of the federal association. Thus almost half of all doctoral candidates in Germany are now represented in the federal association.

In addition to the new local representatives who will support us in the future, a new board was elected as well. Timo will leave us as chairman after a successful year in which the federal association has grown greatly. Fortunately, our previously second chairperson Benita Schmitz was elected as part of the new leadership of the federal association together with Luisa Weyers from FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. The other proposed board members were elected for the positions they chose. Therefore, we are once again having a strong board for the coming year. Unfortunately, the position of treasurer remains vacant until further notice. If you could imagine taking on this position, please get in touch with us.
So there is still plenty of work to do and big plans for the future ahead of us. We will have more information for you on our visions and a rough 5-year plan in the near future. If you would like to get involved in the work of our federal association, take a look at the working groups.
